Our Story
Thamani Digital wasn’t born in a branding workshop.
It started years ago, in a long-running message thread, while I was figuring out what it meant to build something African, modern, simple, and meaningful.
At the time, I was juggling consulting, content, and early motherhood, but I knew one thing:
Whatever I built had to sit at the intersection of digital strategy, storytelling, and African identity.
So I started playing with names.
I tried a Swahili version of “digital” – dijiti. Fun, familiar, and the kind of word Safaricom could make mainstream overnight. But the name that stayed with me was Thamani: value, worth, substance.
It felt soft and strong at once.
African, intentional, and grounded.
It held the weight of meaningful work.
And then there was the unexpected bonus:
when I said “Thamani” to my non-Kenyan friends, they heard “tha money.” 💸
Honestly? I loved that too.
Value. Worth. Money.
So that’s how the name was born. The desire to honour the worth of African stories and the people behind them.
